Business Licenses

A business license is required for commercial and residential based businesses operating in the City of Huntsville. Restaurants will need a certificate from the Madison County Health Department to complete their application. Businesses not physically located in Huntsville must also purchase a license if they meet any of the following criteria:

• Sales reps or employees soliciting business in Huntsville
• Deliveries made to Huntsville via company owned or leased vehicles
• Personal property leased in Huntsville
• Repair, maintenance, construction or installation services performed in Huntsville

Your application will be routed and approved by these City departments in the following order:

1. Clerk/Treasurer Office
2. Zoning Administration – Planning Department
3. Finance Department
4. Inspection Department
5. Fire Department

• Report of Ownership
• Citizenship Confirmation (Sole Proprietor)
• *Tax Registration Form (if the Annual Privilege License Tax Return or Report of Ownership do not apply to your business)
• Transportation Network Company

Insurance Companies, Door-to-Door Solicitors, and Transportation Licenses

• Annual Privilege License
  Required for all insurance companies
  Insurance Company Privilege License
• Solicitation License – Residential
• Taxi, Limousine, Ride Share, and Carriage Licenses

STEP FOUR

Apply online for your Business License. Approved licenses will be mailed to the business owner on record. Citizens may also send applications via mail to City Hall:
