Individual Taxpayers
Thursday, April 18, 2024 is the due date for the 2023 Norwood Individual tax return filing, payment, and the first quarter estimated payment for tax year 2024.

Municipal Net Profit Taxpayers
Thursday, April 18, 2024 is the due date for the 2023 Norwood Business return filing, payment, and first quarter estimated payment for tax year 2024.

 

Filing Requirements

All Norwood residents (regardless of your age or income level) who receive taxable compensation are required to pay the City of Norwood income tax at the rate of 2.0%. If your employer did not withhold the local tax at the rates shown, you are required to file a Norwood tax return.

Credit up to 2.0% will be allowed for taxes paid to another locality.

Each resident engaged in business whether or not tax is due must file a tax return. Business activity includes rental property, short term rentals, sole proprietorship (Schedule C), partnership, and corporations.

All nonresidents of Norwood engaged in business within the City of Norwood, or whose compensation was earned within Norwood and did not have Norwood tax withheld from their earnings, must file a tax return whether or not tax is due.

 

   Non-Resident Refund Requests

  • All Work-From Home (entire year) Refund Requests must use our Individual Return Form reporting (0) taxable income.

 

  • Please note, in accordance with ORC 718.13, any refund issued by the City of Norwood will be disclosed to your taxing jurisdiction of residency.

 

 

What to drop off:

  • Copies of W-2’s from all employers
  • Copies of any 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC forms received
  • Copy of Federal 1040 Pages 1 and 2; any attached schedules (e.g. Schedules C, E, or F)
  • Norwood Cover sheet with Taxpayers Name, Current Address, Telephone Number and E-mail Address

Changes Beginning Tax Year 2016

By October 31st of each year, the interest rate that will apply to overdue municipal income taxes during the calendar year will be posted herein, as required by Ohio Revised Code Section 718.27(F). The interest rate is calculated by adding 5 percentage points to the federal short-term rate (rounded to the nearest whole number percent) that was in effect during July of the current year, in accordance with Ohio Revised Code Section 718.24(A)(5), and is applicable to tax years beginning on or after January 1, 2016. Based on these requirements, the applicable interest is as follows:
