Name of Limited Liability Company The name of the limited liability company must be provided. Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code section 1706.07 the name must contain one of the following: “limited liability company”, “L.L.C.”, “LLC”, “limited”, “ltd.”, or “ltd”. Further, the name must be distinguishable on the records of the secretary of state from the name of other business entities. Effective Date and Effective Time (Optional) Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code Section 1706.16(D), a limited liability company is formed when the articles of organization are filed by the secretary of state or at any later date or time specified in the articles of organization.
